Full Job Description

Supervises personnel and directs the operations of the Motor Vehicle division of the County Tax Assessor-Collection in the absence of the manager. Incumbent directs operations in the areas of registration renewals, motor vehicle title transfers, sub-contractor sites, and dealer sub-contract sites.

Requirements

Supervises Motor Vehicle front line staff.

Maintains personnel records, monitors productivity, reports attendance, and audits work.Opens and closes Motor Vehicle cash register and balances registers at the end of the day.

May prepare Motor Vehicle bank deposits.Assists customers by mail, telephone, and in person. Assists staff with customers and/or technical problems.Issues controlled supplies.

Checks receipts and checks finished work daily.

Keeps detailed inventory records and conducts audits for accuracy.Assumes the Manager's duties in his/her absence.Resolves high level MV problems.Research MV questions and provides appropriate response.Provides first level supervision of staff.Coordinates assignments and resolves staffing issues with Managers.Recommends updates to procedures and documentation.Trains new employees or employees new to an assignment.Complies reports for management.May balance subordinate funds and transactions on a daily basis.Will be required to rotate responsibilities on a routine basis.Evaluates subordinate performance.Recommends training and discipline as appropriate.May participate in the hiring of new employees.Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications NOTE: You must fill out the work history and education sections of application to show you have years of experience/education as required by hiring department or be disqualified.High School diploma or equivalent.

Five (5) full-time years office or retail experience is required, three (3) full-time years of which must be motor vehicle experience with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) Registration and Title System (RTS), TxDMV’s webDEALER, or another state’s motor vehicle system.Must know all phases of motor vehicle registration, titles, regulations, and laws.

Knowledge of Property Tax Laws and Rules.Aptitude for basic math and knowledge of office equipment operation.

Experience dealing with the public.If hired, you must provide proof of educational attainment.Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment.

A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.

Additional Information While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, lift, transport, stoop, grasp, climb, walk and bend.
