This job involves driving large trucks, buses, and forklifts to transport cargo and passengers on and off military bases in Florida, often in tough traffic and weather conditions.

The primary purpose of this position is to operate one or more types of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of more than 32,000 lbs.
Drives over public roads in all traffic conditions and highway speeds to transport cargo. Drives 16 passenger buses and forklifts for cargo loading/unloading, wreckers, tilt trailers, and winches.
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Family.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

(related to mobile equipment operation) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Reliability and Dependability as a Motor Vehicle Operator (Forklift Operator) IDEAL CANDIDATE: Drives one or more types of heavy trucks, such as platform, van, stake, trash/garbage or dump trucks, which are typically equipped with air brakes.
May be required to operate passenger buses of varying sizes both on and off-base under varying weather conditions.
Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Major Duties:
Drives tractor-trailers and/or other vehicles typically having a GVW of more than 32,000 pounds.
Drives one or more types of passenger vehicles such as 15 passenger vans, 23 passenger surrey buses, 28 and 44 passenger transit buses as well as 51 passenger MCI coach buses.
Drives one or more types of medium trucks such as platform trucks, van trucks, or stake trucks, which typically have a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 10,000 and up to 26,000 pounds.
Performs operator maintenance, such as checking and replenishing fluid levels, correcting air pressure in tires and other minor adjustments.
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Operates one or more electric, LPG, or diesel-powered forklift trucks to facilitate loading and unloading duties.
Maintains supply records and documents actions, such as operator inspection checklist/forms and accident/incident reports.
