Full Job Description

This position is in the Clement J. Zablocki Medical Center, Milwaukee, a complexity level 1A facility.

The motor vehicle operator functions within the Environmental Management performs daily cleaning and sanitation of the truck and/or trailer using prescribed germicide according to pre-established procedures, thereby preventing contamination of linen articles.

Beginning September 27, 2025, Federal agencies will only accept resumes up to two pages in length to comply with the Merit Hiring Plan.

Physical Requirements: Incumbent exerts a moderate physical effort in climbing into trucks and vans to load/unload or securing of cargo, and to make couplings between trailers and snow plow attachments to trucks.

Incumbent exerts a moderate physical effort and may handle weight of over 50 pounds when loading/unloading of cargo, making coupling and uncoupling of trailers and plow attachments, shoveling snow or running snow blowers, cutting and trimming grass, running backpack blowers, and other assigned Laborer work.

Working Conditions: Incumbent works mostly outside and operates in all kinds of traffic and weather.

Incumbent may be exposed to dirt, dust, and fumes while driving, loading/unloading of vehicles and Grounds related work.

Work is carried out on the Medical Center Campus in all types of traffic, at low speeds, in confined and congested areas, and in all types of weather. Major Duties:

The motor vehicle operator operates closed bed truck which typically has an approximate gross vehicle weight of up to 10,000 pounds.

Vehicles are driven on the basis of either specific trip assignments or regularly established schedules and standard routes to transport linen and Regulated Medical Waste.

(RMW), recyclables, paper for shredding, chemicals for outer buildings and occasionally furniture to support our interior design to and from Milwaukee VA hospital and building 70,123 & 6.

Operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, and cleaning and washing the vehicles. Incumbent will maintain the P.M.

and cleanliness of the truck to include the inside of the bed of the truck. They may use two-way radios to receive and transmit messages. They complete trip tickets and other required records.

Operates a motor vehicle, closed bed truck with an approximate gross vehicle weight of up to 10,000 pounds.

Vehicles are driven based on either specific trip assignments or regularly established schedules and standard routes to transport linen and regulated medical waste.

Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, and cleaning and washing vehicles Maintain the P.M and cleanliness of the truck to include the inside of the bed of the truck.

Loads and unloads both empty carts and carts full of clean and soiled linens, uniforms from building and delivers them for textile processing Weights and records load soiled lien carts and transport them to building 70 docks.

Load the soiled linens onto the trailer for travel to the textile processing facility.

Unloads the trailer of full clean linen from the trailer at building 70 and loads the truck and delivers to building 111, unloads the truck and stages the carts for distribution Removes all clutter from loading dock and reports any found discrepancies within the shift to the supervisor Responsible for maintaining security of the shredding bins both on the truck and throughout the medical facility.

NOTE: The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license (DL) at all times.
