Job Description

Summary

This job involves driving a motor coach to transport groups of people on trips across various road conditions in Germany, including highways, city streets, and mountain roads, while ensuring passenger safety.

The role also includes basic vehicle maintenance, loading and unloading cargo, and handling repairs or towing when needed.

It's a good fit for experienced drivers with a commercial license who enjoy travel and can work independently under normal supervision.

Full Job Description

This position is located at USAG Rheinland-Pfalz - MWR, Pulaski Outdoor Recreation Program, Kaiserslautern, Germany. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Experience and training that equip the applicant with knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade.

Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools, equipment and applicable vehicles based on gross weight (32,000 pounds).

Ability to read, understand, and apply instruction and other materials related to the job. Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision.

Skill in operating vehicles over a variety of roads and assessing traffic conditions and hazards.

Skill in using judgment to load and unload individuals or cargo/supplies, clearances, turning radius, safe braking distances, connect and disconnect air brakes and electrical lines as needed, etc.

Knowledge of vehicle safety regulations to determine when mechanical or operational problems indicate that vehicles are unsafe for operation.

Required to possess/maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Ability to obtain and maintain a European Commercial Driver's License.

Applicant meeting the Best Qualifying Criteria/Highly Preferred will be referred to the hiring manager. All other qualified applicants will be referred if requested by the hiring manager.

  • Operates a motor coach to transport large groups of people on trips where day and night driving are involved.
  • Drives in a variety of driving situations such as congested highways, metropolitan areas, narrow country or mountain roads, and steep winding grades. Ensures the safe travel of passengers.
  • Performs preventive maintenance. Arranges for towing and unexpected repairs. Arranges for parking and storage as required.
  • Assists with loading and unloading cargo and materials. Ensures vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity.
