Job Description

Summary

This job involves driving trucks and operating vehicles to transport cargo, heavy equipment, and passengers for the U.S. Marine Corps in California.

You'll handle loading and unloading materials, performing safety checks, and following routes or schedules while working under supervision.

It's a good fit for someone with reliable driving experience who can work safely and independently with minimal oversight.

Sample task for this position include: Performing driver before operation checks, operator maintenance services, properly load and secure loads, safely operate vehicles, work under supervision of a Work Leader or journeyman-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly and safely performed.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as a motor vehicle operator engaged in work related to vehicle operations, transporting cargo, heavy equipment, and passengers.
  • You will operate gasoline or diesel powered trucks or truck tractors with trailer or semi-trailer coupled by use of a turntable (fifth wheel) or pintle (pivot) hook.
  • You will drive vehicles either on a specific basis or upon regularly established schedule and route to transport material and equipment.
  • You will load and unload material or direct others in this task, checking material loaded or delivered against records of various types to ensure against errors, and obtain signatures of receiving individuals.
  • You will inspect air hoses and connections in braking systems, and checking lighting lines.
