Full Job Description

Under the guidance and leadership of the Director, Pentagon Services Division (PSD), Executive Services Directorate (ESD), Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), serves as Motor Vehicle Dispatcher for the Pentagon Motor Pool (PMP).

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

You may qualify at the GS-09 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your experience: Utilizing a computerized dispatch program to support transportation requirements (e.g.

Ground Transportation Dispatch System (GTDS)); Monitoring various GPS routes and making recommendations to ensure minimal disruptions (e.g. traffic congestion, accidents, etc.).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Mission Essential Position: Mission essential employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations (e.g., building closure due to power outage) causing disruptions of government operations, and are required to maintain contact with their supervisor during any dismissal or closure situation unless specifically excused by their supervisor.

Employment Physical: The incumbent is required to successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination, as well as subsequent mandatory physical examinations at least once every two (2) years.

Employees with certain health conditions may be required to undergo physical examinations annually or whenever questions arise regarding their ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.

These examinations are required to confirm that drivers are medically able to operate Government-owned or leased vehicles without undue risk to themselves or others.

Required examinations will be conducted at the DiLorenzo Clinic.

If the Motor Pool is unable to schedule the mandatory physical examination at the DiLorenzo Clinic within 60 days of the examination's expiration date, the employee may submit to an examination by a personal physician listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME).

Refusal or failure to report for a required medical examination may result in a determination that the applicant or employee is not qualified for the position and may subject an employee to adverse action.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Receive, analyze, and process a high volume of vehicle transportation requests, utilizing the Ground Transportation Dispatch System (GTDS) to assign appropriate vehicles, schedule drivers, and ensure timely responses to customer needs.

Serve as a central point of communication by relaying mission details to drivers, answering questions on policies and procedures, and providing real-time status updates on traffic, delays, or other operational issues to supervisors and stakeholders.

Prepare, issue, and review trip tickets and other required forms (e.g., DD Form 1970) for accuracy and completeness, while maintaining meticulous logs of vehicle and driver status within the dispatch system.

Monitor the operational readiness of the vehicle fleet by performing daily driver-level maintenance checks, ensuring vehicles are properly fueled and cleaned, and promptly reporting any accidents, malfunctions, or damage.

Operate a variety of U.S.

Government leased passenger vehicles, including sedans, vans, and buses, to transport authorized personnel safely and efficiently in the National Capital Region as mission requirements dictate.
