Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S.
Customs and Border Protection, Big Bend Sector, Mission Readiness Operations Division - Finance Unit, located in Marfa, TX.
Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Assisting with budgets, procurement, and travel.
Interpreting and applying directives, regulations, and policies as they relate to budgetary and financial operations.
Using automation systems to effectively and efficiently complete required major duties and responsibilities.
Monitoring expenditures ensuring resource allocations and monetary commitments are used correctly and paid for in a timely fashion.

This position starts at a salary of $89,508.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $116,362.00 (GS-12, Step 10).
The Mission Support Specialist (Finance) plans and carries out a variety of mission support, budgetary, administrative research, and program planning activities.
Performs significant review and analysis of budget, management, training, logistics, procurement, and other assigned areas.
Duties and responsibilities include: Planning, coordinating and executing of business functions, resource allocation, and production.
Planning and carrying out a variety of mission support, budgetary, administrative research, and program planning activities related to the missions and functions of the Mission Readiness Operations.
Applying knowledge of principles, methods, and tools for automating, developing, implementing, or administering database systems.
Making clear and convincing oral presentations to individuals or groups, listening effectively and clarifying information as needed, facilitating an open exchange of ideas and fostering an atmosphere of open communication.
Organizing work, setting priorities, and determining resource requirements; determining short and long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinating with other organizations to accomplish goals.
