The primary purpose of this position is: Perform base-level Air Force personnel support through systems administration, problem solving, work group administration, equipment management, and customer service in accordance with applicable directives.

Trains users on personnel systems. Trains personnel on newly developed computer programs and procedures.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes performing administrative and clerical work, providing computer-systems management support and advice to the organization as the authoritative point of contact; applying conventional methods to gather, analyze, and evaluate information concerning management processes, draw conclusions, and recommend appropriate action; determine best software to use to enter, maintain and retrieve organizational data, compile reports, produce charts and graphs and/or monitor project or program status as well as the ability to design and set up necessary corresponding procedures and format; analyze, verify, and correlate data to support studies and recommendations; ensure personnel system data integrity through the use of system products, reports, queries, audits and reviews; develop and maintain local databases, lists and programs in support of personnel activities.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible.

One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.

Knowledge of, and skill in applying military personnel regulations and procedures relating to computer system applications. 2.

Knowledge of military personnel management and military organizational structure, protocol, and similar matters. 3.

Knowledge of the military personnel automated systems to include but not limited to UNIX, ORACLE, and Structered Query Language (SQL), and of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.

4.

Skill in administering personnel data system applications, personnel records and transactions, installation of computer equipment and software, training and customer support, and correcting data errors in data systems.

5. Ability to gather facts and use effective, analytical, and evaluative methods to accurately assesses information and makes sound decisions. 6.

Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions relating to work.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Assist in the Administration of MPF Personnel Systems. Assists in the Oversight of Military Personnel Records and Transaction Data Integrity. Provides Communications Systems Support.

Monitors operation of network systems, personnel computers, and peripheral equipment to ensure hardware and software are functioning properly and operational standards are met.

Plans and Provides customer Assistance/Training. Provides instruction to functional area users on personnel systems and automated and non-automated personnel processes.

Supports Air Force's MPF Automation Plan and performs administrative functions. Serves as a control point for processing requests.
