Summary

About the Position: This position falls under Defense Health Agency at Naval Station, Norfolk, VA in Dir of Admin.

The primary purpose of this position is to perform office automation work, including word processing, and a variety of clerical functions in support of the organization's mission and function.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, assist customers, utilize a computer, schedule clinic appointments and maintain files electronically or hard copy.

OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Answer telephone and electronic mail inquiries and refer to appropriate staff member.
  • Develop work schedules and staffing patterns that provide efficient coverage for patient care.
  • Maintain and replenish office supplies as needed.
  • Schedule patient appointments within clinic.
  • File the results of various tests in patients' charts as they are received, keeping the record of care current and accurate.
  • Perform routine patient check-in/checkout procedures using computerized systems.
