Full Job Description

Serves as a Medical Support Assistant, providing a variety of duties associated with patient care and treatment in several outpatient clinics and medical facilities by coordinating clinic activities and ensuring the smooth operation of daily services.

These Medical Support Assistant positions are located at multiple Indian Health Service (IHS) healthcare facilities across various locations.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-6: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples of Specialized Experience: Provide clear guidance to patients regarding available services, appointment requirements, and necessary documentation.

Maintain and manage the appointment scheduling system to ensure accuracy and efficiency across routine primary care clinics, specialty clinics, and individual medical provider schedules.

Generate and distribute follow-up correspondence, including reminder letters for annual examinations and preventive care visits.
