About the Position: The Medical Support Assistant position is located at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Jacksonville, FL, within the Directorate of Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology Department.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation for DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing front desk duties such as 1) accurately scheduling pre- and post surgical patients using electronic health systems, 2) initiating registration and reviewing electronic medical records, 3) providing information regarding hospital policies and procedures, 4) must be able to multitask, possess exceptional organizational skills, and pay attention to detail.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • This position is within Naval Hospital for a Medical Support Assistant position with major duties as a Main Operation Room Scheduler (MOR).
  • The primary duty for this employee will be that of Main Operating Room Scheduler, which includes conducting pre-operative and post-operative prep with patients and the systems super user for the clinic.
  • Manager of computer based operating room schedule for assigned clinic.
  • Inputs all required and pertinent data ensuring patients are scheduled for MOR procedures.
  • Coordinates and schedules MOR patients for all required appointments in appropriate computer-based systems, to include all pre-operative and post-operative procedures related to the episode of care.
  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures with outlying hospitals as necessary.
  • Perform front desk duties to include check in and out of patients, scheduling appointments, patient registration, and answering phones.
