Summary

Full Job Description

About the Position: Located in the Directorate of Administration/Patient Administration Division (PAD) at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the federal service which includes: (1) responding to routine requests concerning medical information from health care organizations, insurance companies, patients and/or other government and non-government agencies; (2) typing various memorandums, reports and responses to medical inquiries; (3) using word processing equipment and standard office applications software to update, review, and/or maintain patient medical records.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Compile patient information to include responding to requests from DDEAMC providers, civilian and military health care organizations, insurance companies, patients, and other governmental and non-governmental agencies.
  • Reviewing records for missing signatures, dates, and missing documents or reports.
  • Ensure that information provided complies with rules/regulations, Privacy Act, Freedom of Information Act, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
  • Track all medical records in the electronic health record systems and other database tracking systems.
  • Conduct analysis of medical records and quality assurance studies to gather information and statistics and make recommendations to improve procedures for providing medical health information.
  • Provide customer service to patients and assist with documents, forms and questions.
