About the Position: This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Department of Surgery, Urology, Honolulu, Hawaii. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace.

Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: preparing procedure area and instruments for medical procedures, assisting the Physician during routine or diagnostic procedures, performing basic maintenance and sterilization methods to clean instruments and equipment, and scheduling appointments, assisting with labs, referrals, and clinical documents.

OR Education: At least one full year of graduate level education from an accredited college or university with major courses of study in fields such as Nursing, or Medical Assisting.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18.

Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Review patient medical records.
  • Administer medication through various routes.
  • Prepare patient specimens for examination.
  • Set up endo-fiberoptic equipment.
  • Perform complex diagnostic radiographic procedures specific to urology.
  • Assist as scrub and circulating technician in Main Hospital Operating Room.
