Full Job Description

This position serves as the supervisor of the Transshipping section which is located in the Laboratory Support Services onsite at National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) and the USDA, NBAF External Distribution Center located off site in Manhattan, Kansas.

To qualify, you must show you have had training and experience of sufficient scope and quality to provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

  • The duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of both the Transshipping/External Distribution Center receiving and shipping, animal receiving operations, and biological materials receipt and shipping.
  • Oversees domestic and international shipping for select agents, infectious and dangerous goods, sample collection kits, equipment, reagents, etc.
  • Coordinates and processes shipping documents ensuring required paperwork accompanies all shipments such as permits, licenses, and import certifies.
  • Issues inventory, compressed gas, supplies and materials, uses both manual and/or computerized processes
  • Plans and coordinates the Unit’s Distribution Center operations, material handler staff, section-specific contracts, and mail services.
