This job involves handling, storing, and moving supplies and equipment in a warehouse setting for the Defense Logistics Agency, including operating forklifts to load and transport items up to several thousand pounds.

To qualify for a Materials Handler (Forklift Operator), your resume and supporting documentation must support: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying.
Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and that you have the required ability or potential to perform the job.
Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler (Forklift Operator) without more than normal supervision.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience Physical Effort: Works on concrete surfaces for long periods of time.
Bends, stoops and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Lifts and carries items weighing up to forty pounds and occasionally items weighing in excess of forty pounds with assistance from other workers or with equipment provided.
Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside. Incumbent is exposed to all weather conditions such as extremes of hot and cold and works in areas that are damp and drafty.
Incumbents is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapers, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas.
May be required to wear protective clothing such as steel-toed shoes, hardhats, rubber gloves, masks, etc. Major Duties:
