Job Description

Summary

This job involves coordinating and speeding up the delivery of parts, tools, and supplies needed for ship maintenance and repairs at a naval shipyard in Hawaii.

  • You will serve as a Materials Expediter, WG-6910-05/07 in the Project Support Division (Code 530) of the Supply Department for Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
  • You will perform a variety of duties in expediting, coordinating, and supplying parts, tools, material and supplies for scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance and/or repair of shipboard equipment.
  • You will expedite the movement of supplies, parts, and shipboard equipment through supply, maintenance or procurement channels to effect early receipt, shipment or delivery of requisitioned items which are in critical need for maintenance operations.
  • You will route, control, turn-in, store and/or deliver material.
  • You will re-warehouse stock to consolidate like items, make room for new stock, or to obtain more effective utilization of space and determine location for new items.
  • You will examine items received to verify part number, identity, and quantity with routing documents, and check for discrepancies such as untagged parts attached or unreported damage.
  • You will check triggers, material movement documents, route tags or orders that are attached to items processed through the control point to assure that the item(s) received, and the documents correspond in identity, quantity, and job number.
  • You will operate forklift controls for driving in industrial areas both indoors and outdoors and for lifting, leering, and tilting loads.
  • You will operate motor vehicles for hauling material, equipment and/or personnel.
  • You will unload material from trucks, pallets, pallet boxes, baskets or incoming bench.
