Full Job Description

This position is located at the Recycling Center which is a part of the Fort Benning Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR). Incentives and Bonuses Incentives and bonuses will not be paid.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Experience and training that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade.

This includes using and maintaining tools and equipment, being able to read, understand, and apply instructions and other requirements related to this job; and driving and operating forklifts; and performing the physical requirements of the job.

Major Duties:

  • Follows established procedures in receiving, checking, and sorting and classifying recyclable materials based on industry standards of characteristics such as weight, texture, color, and hardness.
  • Work is usually performed either in a warehouse or property recycle facility.
  • Performs the work of receiving, separating, and sorting a variety of recycle materials and sorts basic categories of common recyclable materials (i.e. paper, plastic, metal).
  • Operates paper and plastic bailer and low and high torque shredder.
  • Also operates a variety of forklifts capable of lifting loads weighing up to 10,000 pounds to move, load, unload, stack, or un-stack various recycle materials.
