Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Management, Logistics, or a related field required; supplemented by three years of experience in inventory management or purchasing; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to manage inventory, supply operations, and all personnel within various County warehouses and facilities. This series is distinguished from the Purchasing series by its focus on the warehousing, release, and control of equipment, materials, and supplies.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Supervises assigned staff: establishes workloads; prioritizes work assignments; evaluates employee performance; interprets and enforces policies and procedures; resolves staff issues; administers disciplinary action as required; provides advice and recommendations on supplies and suppliers; provides training to County staff on computerized supply requisitions and the use of automated financial systems in warehouse operations; conducts research and participates in special projects as required; recommends measures to improve quality of service, increasing efficiency of department, work crew and equipment performance.
Manages material, inventory, and equipment operations for an assigned County facility: operates a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload supplies; coordinates the distribution of supplies and equipment; oversees the disposal or re-purposing of materials that have been deemed surplus by other departments; promotes recycling of reusable materials; monitors inventory levels and process new orders for materials as needed; facilitates the procurement of supplies and material for critical projects at the request of departmental managers and supervisors; researches and develops product specifications for supplies and equipment.
Maintains and provides a variety of operational reports to departmental managers: performs data entry of supplies for inventory tracking; processes service contracts for retail supply operations; develops budget and monitors expenditures related to warehouse procurements; generates warehouse purchasing reports; generates pick-up and delivery routes for staff; schedules and implements warehouse activities relating to physical inventories, cycle counts, material and equipment disposal and auctions.
