Full Job Description

SCPRT operates state parks, markets the state as a tourist destination and provides grants for parks, recreation and tourism development.

Job Purpose and Duties:

Construction and/or renovations to SCPRT facilities and maintenance to buildings and grounds.

1) Assists Construction Foreman with planning and staging of materials. Helps with job phases to ensure tasks are performed in an efficient manner. Communicates on a regular basis with Foreman about any problems that may arise during projects.
2) Performs Historic Restoration projects involving carpentry, electrical and plumbing.
3) Properly maintains tools and equipment on a daily basis. Stores tools in proper locations and periodically checks for any defective or broken tools.
4) Assists in ensuring the maintenance program and its resources are managed and implemented in an efficient and effective manner. Follows all state, agency, and program processes, procedures, operations and laws.
5) Maintains positive working relationships with all visitor services staff and managers, SCPRT staff, contractors, vendors, and other partners to ensure program goals and objectives are met. Promotes a team atmosphere. Serves as a leader in providing a safe, healthy, and pleasing stop with facilities, grounds and services that exceed guest expectations.
6) Practice and promote teamwork within the Agency. Serves as a liaison to business and governmental groups, state industry, etc. Abide by the Agency Code of Conduct.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED and 3+ years in facilities maintenance, grounds and repair, park maintenance, construction or related experience.

Additional Requirements:

1) Able to manage several projects at a time and coordinate resources across the state.
2) Thorough knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in construction and maintenance. Working knowledge and competency in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing trades. Ability to communicate effectively, understand written instructions and read building drawings.
3) Valid SC Driver's License.


Qualifications

Experience in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades preferred.

Monday-Thursday, 40 hours weekly.
