Requirements
Overarching Responsibilities:- Develop strategies and tactics to boost the organization’s reputation and drive
engagement through ticket sales, attendance/ registrations, venue rentals, applications and general participation with History Colorado programs and initiatives - Coordinate and deploy successful marketing campaigns from ideation to
execution including analysis of performance results - Work collaboratively with internal and external teams to accomplish tasks and meet organizational marketing and communications objectives and goals
Position SummaryAs Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for the successful development and execution of marketing campaigns for a broad array of projects that span the entire History Colorado portfolio including programs related to, but not limited to: museums, historic sites, community events, speaker series, community initiatives, education, youth programs, philanthropy, state historical fund, state archaeological office, and special projects. Working with the Director of Marketing & Communications, and both internal and external teams, you will be accountable for project management for your portfolio of projects including managing budgets, establishing project goals and predicted outcomes. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating marketing plans, creative asset development and coordinating the execution of those plans to achieve key results. You will be responsible for developing, managing, executing and analyzing programmatic marketing campaigns for assigned projects in both individual and team settings.
This role may require management of direct reports and/or interns. Additionally, this role requires leadership and close collaboration with internal channel experts across multiple departments within History Colorado in order to implement marketing tactics, analyze performance, and identify actions needed to meet objectives. As Marketing Manager, you will gain a deep understanding of History Colorado's organizational objectives and overarching brand attributes. You will also work closely with internal partners to develop and implement marketing initiatives that meet individual departmental goals. You should be able to bring an entrepreneurial spirit, critical thinking skills, customer service mindset and a synergistic perspective. In addition, a working knowledge of various marketing channels and tools used to create effective campaigns such as marketing research, creative development and copywriting, digital media, SEO, email marketing, web site development and social media with a focus on ROI for engagement with programs is desired.
Responsibilities:- Develop deep understanding of History Colorado programs and locations and their varied goals as well as core audiences
- Communicate strategy and direction for projects to internal and external partners
- Develop strategies and tactics to promote History Colorado programs and locations to
increase participation and/or engagement with them - Deploy successful marketing campaigns and own their implementation from
ideation to execution - Project manage marketing campaign execution with internal and external
vendors - Implement marketing plans independently and within teams depending on the
project. Tasks may include and not limited to: copywriting, copy editing, creative
development, minimal graphic design, vendor management, etc. - Set and update campaign performance expectations for internal teams
- Monitor KPIs to ensure planned performance expectations are met
- Review creative and project status plans and escalate issues as necessary
- Build strategic relationships and partner with key industry players, agencies and
vendors - In conjunction with Director of Marketing & Communications prepare and monitor
the marketing budget on a quarterly and annual basis allocating and managing
funds wisely - Measure and report on the performance of marketing campaigns, gain insight
and assess against goals - Analyze consumer behavior and adjust campaigns accordingly
- Demonstrable experience in marketing along with the potential and attitude
required to learn - Proven experience in identifying target audiences and in creatively devising and
leading cross-channel marketing campaigns that engage, educate and
motivate - Manage direct reports and work with volunteers and interns - experience in onboarding and
training interns, and leading direct reports through performance reviews and guiding them
toward their goals - Collaborate with internal departments to create marketing plans that suit varied needs based on location, audience and project goals

Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual proficiency.
- Agency-type experience or experience working within a large, complex organization comprising many departments and teams, especially those located in a variety of locations with diverse goals and audiences
- Knowledge of the state of Colorado and appreciation for history/cultural institutions
- Knowledge of local media landscape in Denver and other communities across Colorado, or the ability to learn
Qualifications
Experience and Education:Nine (9) years of professional experience in marketing, advertising, and account management.
OR
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or a closely related field AND five (5) years of professional experience in marketing, advertising, and account management
Required and Highly Desirable Competencies
- Account Management: Successful account management demonstrating retention, growth, and profitability.
- Communication & Presentation: Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization; strong presentation skills to internal and external clients.
- Data & Metrics: Proven ability to interpret data from multiple sources and translate it into successful campaigns; ability to develop and manage performance metrics.
- Marketing Expertise: Media and integrated marketing savvy; general knowledge of the marketing and advertising production process (e.g., concepting, setting deadlines, coordinating with stakeholders, gathering and compiling feedback, creating UTM codes).
- Design Collaboration: Experience working with graphic designers and a basic working knowledge of graphic design needs (e.g., knowledge of different file types, providing remote creative direction/feedback that sets designers up for success, translating vendor/stakeholder requests into actionable designer directions).
- Financial Skills: Experience managing budgets and expenses.
- Problem Solving & Critical Thinking: Demonstrated critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, especially when contacting vendors or tracking down information.
- Project & File Management: Strong project management skills; ability to keep files organized; ability to create systems and processes for seamlessly sharing documents and ensuring they are easily available to all stakeholders who need them; ensuring version control when gathering edits; strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized in the face of multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Interpersonal Traits: Proactive, customer service-oriented, team player, and a respected leader
Conditions of Employment
- Must be willing and able to travel to History Colorado museums and historic sites to become familiar with local staff, geographic considerations, exhibitions or experiences
Technical skills:- Expert knowledge: Google Suite
- Expert knowledge: email marketing software and email marketing rules/regulations
- Proficiency with: Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator)
- Experience with content management systems for web
- Strong proofreading and editing skills
- Ability to see the “big picture” and make connections among the organization’s diverse teams, projects, events, and initiatives, identifying creative opportunities to cross-promote and make suggestions to improve efficiency
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and urgent requests
- Ability to quickly learn new software and technology tools
- Ability to stay up to date on latest marketing trends and developments
