About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation at Grand Forks AFB, ND. Intermittent - This is an Intermittent/Flexible position.

Incumbent can be scheduled 0-40 hours. This position does not include benefits. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of outboard marine/small engines.

This experience must have provided a thorough knowledge of and the ability to test and troubleshoot, components and systems to locate marine/small engine equipment defects; interpret and apply manufacturer's repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, diagnostic codes, and safety manuals; and to operate electronic test equipment.

Must be physically able to frequently lift, handle, and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and with assistance, objects up to and over 50 pounds.

Must be able to frequently, stand, bend, stoop, crawl, and work in tight spaces for long periods of time. Motorized on/off road vehicle operation is a requirement.

Condition(s) of Employment: Must be at least 18 years old. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required.

Must possess valid Driver's License. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Major Duties:

Duties and Responsibilities: Diagnoses malfunctions of small engine/outboard motors to determine the source of trouble and to determine the extent of repairs required, including electrical systems, geared units, and components.

Using specialized testing equipment, tears down, adjusts, repairs, reassembles, and runs operational checks on engines to determine necessary repairs.

Determines supplies and parts needed for repair of motors. May maintain maintenance records on all equipment repaired, annotating manhours, materials, and date of repair.

Based on these records, determines bench stock required and maintenance schedules. Instructs patrons in all phases of safety regulations concerning use of boats and motors.

May collect fees for rental of equipment and prepare daily cash reports and deposit funds. Responsible for the maintenance, cleaning and repair work on all Outdoor Recreation rental equipment.

Performs other related duties as assigned. Controls over work: Works independently, supervisor is available to answer any questions or provide assistance.

Works from specifications in manufacturer's manuals. Other Significant Information: Skill and knowledge: Ability to test and trouble shoot components and systems equipment defects.

Ability to interpret and apply manufacturer's repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, diagnostic codes, and safety manuals. Ability to operate electronic test equipment.

Physical Effort: Requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, crawling under vehicles and working in tight spaces.

Frequently lifts, handles, and carriers parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

Occasionally, moves moderately heavy items with assistance or with mechanical devices, including objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside and is usually dirty, and greasy. Gasoline and exhaust fumes may be present.

Exposed to grease, noise, cuts, bruises, and falling or slipping on wet surfaces. Requires caution in working with moving parts during operation of equipment.
