This job involves maintaining and repairing engines and equipment on small boats and service craft at a naval base in Hawaii, including inspecting contractor work and keeping detailed records of all repairs.

You will serve as a Marine Machinery Mechanic in the Port Operations Program located on Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickman (JBPHH) of NAVAL STATION.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Candidate must have a thorough understanding of good engineering practices including basic gas and diesel engine repair, and possess the ability to perform preventive maintenance and repair on gas and diesel engines and associated machinery.
Must have or be able to obtain Yamaha, Westerbeke, or Cummins Certifications assigned by billet and ensure they are maintained current.
Requires a thorough understanding of principles of gas and diesel engines and sufficient knowledge of the operations involved with the standard testing and troubleshooting of small craft vessels and associated equipment/parts.
Must have a thorough understanding of marine equipment installed on small boats and service craft to include the hull and all installed parts and components.
