The Marina Manager role involves overseeing the daily operations of a marina and sailing program at a Navy installation in Groton, Connecticut, including managing staff, ensuring safety for visitors, handling budgets, and maintaining boats and facilities.

This position is located within Commander, Mid-Atlantic Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program.
This position is responsible for the control and accomplishment of management functions associated with the administration, management, operation and utilization of facilities and assets.

A qualified candidate must possess: Must possess 3 years' experience in marina/sailing operations with a minimum of 1 year documented supervisory or leadership experience.
Knowledge of small boat sailing and boating procedures and techniques with documented expert ability in handling all types of motor boats and sailboats in high (16+mph) winds.
Must possess knowledge of boat and sail maintenance and repair techniques. Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of Navy Health and safety requirements, recreation department policies and procedures is strongly preferred. Basic understanding of budgeting and activity level financial management.
Ability to operate a personal computer and perform basic word processing and spreadsheet tasks, Microsoft office is strongly preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must possess and maintain a current state driver's license, as travel is required. Must possess and maintain valid CPR and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire.
Must successfully pass a standard swim test by swimming two widths of the pool without touching bottom or any other support.
Must successfully complete a National Agency Check or equivalent background screening upon selection and periodically thereafter. Irregular tours of duty (nights, weekends and holidays) are required.
Designated as ALPHA for inclement weather, and may be required to report when other employees are excused. Major Duties:
Responsible for planning, developing, organizing, promoting, coordinating, executing, evaluating and managing the assigned Marina/Sailing program.
Ensures the economic and efficient operation of the assigned facility to include: supervising and directing work, ensuring a safe and pleasurable environment for all patrons, ensuring the cleanliness and good repair of the facility, reporting any damages, mechanical or other breakage or malfunction, and reporting/correction of safety hazards, following up as necessary.
Serves as fund custodian, ensuring internal controls (cash handling, daily accounting of funds, inventory, property and vehicles) are in place and in compliance with regional standards, procedures and objectives.
Ensures registers are properly rung out at the end of each shift, change funds are properly accounted for and secured. Reports all cash discrepancies in accordance with local directives.
Prepares and administers the annual budget. Serves as property custodian for all equipment and ensure the appropriate receipt, tagging, and disposition of assets.
Performs a variety of related administrative duties, keeping abreast of requirements and deadlines. Prepare purchase orders for equipment, parts and supplies as required.
Records contractual information, fees and payments into a computer database and prepares reports as required.
Depending upon assigned site, may oversee a sailing instruction program (classroom and on the water), a rental fleet, and/or a ship's store/resale operation. Performs other related duties as assigned.
