Summary

This job involves hands-on maintenance and repair work in a recreational facility on a military base, including building and fixing wooden structures, performing simple electrical and plumbing tasks, and handling heavy lifting or driving to move supplies.

No advanced education is needed, just proven skills in everyday repair duties.

  • Experience in measuring, cutting, constructing, and repairing wood or composite materials

  • Skills in simple plumbing tasks such as repairing faucets, resetting toilets, and lavatories
  • Ability to drive vehicles up to 5-ton trucks and handle loading/unloading of heavy materials
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy boxes, supplies, and furniture using dollies or by hand

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner.

Demonstrated skills in successfully operating standard tools Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job. Major Duties:

  • Measures, cuts, constructs and/or repairs wood, composite building materials, and wood substitute items where specific fit and accuracy are required within allowable limits to produce a serviceable product .
  • As needed, replaces worn or broken wall switches and outlets. Replaces ceiling light and/or burned-out bulbs. Repairs faucets, resets toilets, and lavatories. Performs other easily accomplished repairs.
  • May be required to drive vehicles up to and including a 5-ton truck to move furniture, etc., to various buildings on the installation.
  • Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc.; moves heavy boxes/cartons by hand or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbar, cuts bands using shears; stacks boxes and cartons as directed
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
