About the Position: This position is located in Clarksville Tennessee with the DOD Education Activity HQ, Financial & Business OPS DIR Facilities Division Operations.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision.

To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: mowing, trimming, driving trucks, operating hand tools, and performing light maintenance work.

- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.

(includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment KNOWLEDGE OF EQUIPMENT ASSEMBLY, INSTALLATION, REPAIR, ETC.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Moderate physical activity is required in intermittent lifting and carrying of repair materials and tiring working positions are encountered.

The work requires considerable standing and walking, pushing of carts, bending and stooping.

Occasionally climbs ladders to prune or trim vegetation and frequently lifts heavy objects such as bags of fertilizer, grass seed, etc. Work requires climbing, stooping, and working in cramped places.

Hiring official would like the incumbent to be able to lift up to 45lbs. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is usually performed outside under moderate temperature conditions.

Outside work requires exposure to all types of weather conditions, heat, sun, rain, and snow and extreme cold.

Workers are in contact with usual elements such as dirt, dust, mud, water, unpleasant odors. Hands become soiled by contact with tools, materials and equipment.

Gloves and safety goggles are worn occasionally when using power tools. Unpleasant odors are encountered occasionally.

Inside work areas are sometimes damp and drafty or subject to inadequate ventilation. Incumbent is subject to cuts and bruises during repair operations.

There is danger of injury from falls from ladders or roofs. Subject to be called in after duty hours and weekends. Operate 5-to-8-ton dump trucks to transport personnel, equipment, and supplies.

Major Duties:

  • Carry materials to work sites.
  • Load materials into vehicles and drive materials to work sites.
  • Prepare sites for equipment installation and clean up when jobs are complete.
  • Perform gardening techniques to maintain grounds.
  • Operate landscaping, mowing and snow removal equipment.
  • Perform building maintenance on work sites.
  • Drive 8-to-10-ton vehicles, such as Sedans and pickup trucks, to move equipment.
