Requirements

As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will primarily focus on providing trade services related to the repair and preventative maintenance of equipment and infrastructure within the nursery grounds.

This will encompass mowing grass with lawn care equipment, installing and maintaining signs and gates, snow removal, and setting up kiosks throughout the state forestlands.

Your duties will also entail various wood and table shop projects.

Furthermore, you will participate in nursery operations such as seeding, weeding, and spraying, as well as collecting tree seeds and assisting with shipping seedlings.

Additionally, you will support wildfire suppression efforts by maintaining equipment and participating in related activities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026, through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment in March 2027.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
