This job involves hands-on carpentry and maintenance tasks, such as repairing buildings, furniture, and fixtures, while using tools to build and fix structures under supervision.

Does skilled carpentry work in the alterations, repair, and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, window screens, wood fixtures and furniture.
Repairs tables, chairs, benches, cupboards, counters; builds concrete forms, false work and scaffolds; lays subflooring and does sheathing.
Operates power saws, jointers, wood lathes, planers and boring, sanding and mortising machines.
Cleans, sharpens, and repairs hand and bench tools.
Makes estimates of time and materials required for assigned tasks; reads blueprints and rough drawings; keeps simple records.
Employee required to work any emergency as directed by the Commissioner of Public Works.
