This job involves maintaining and repairing a large state laboratory complex, including fixing buildings, mechanical systems, and equipment across various trades to keep everything running safely and reliably.
You'll handle everything from routine inspections to emergency fixes, manage supplies, and sometimes lead when the boss is away.

The Opportunity
WSDOT is seeking a non-permanent Maintenance Mechanic 3 to support the State Materials Laboratory, a multi-building, 60,000+ square foot complex housing five independent testing laboratories and more than 3,000 pieces of specialized equipment.
This position will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and performing advanced journey-level maintenance, repair, and construction activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of laboratory facilities and systems.
In this role, you will maintain building systems and infrastructure, procure and manage materials and supplies, and provide technical oversight and direction to maintenance contractors.
Our top candidate will demonstrate advanced mechanical and facilities maintenance expertise, strong problem-solving skills, knowledge of building systems and equipment, and the capacity to communicate effectively and work independently in a highly technical environment.
