The Maintenance Leader is considered a working leader in charge of all work performed by the Maintenance Worker, Carpenter, Painter, Pipefitter, Industrial Equipment Mechanic shops, and may be called upon to advise Engineering Technicians, Assistant Engineer Officer, Engineer Officer, and others on matters related to the field.
The incumbent assigns work to the unit work force daily. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/26/2026.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position.

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire.
Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated.
The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements: Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair Interpret Instructions, Specifications (includes blueprint reading) Materials Measuring Instruments Technical Practices Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.
Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: This position requires walking, standing, bending, lifting, carrying, and pushing or pulling moderately heavy loads.
This position requires working overtime, in uncontrolled environments, confined spaces, from ladders and rooftops.
Incumbent shall be subjected to the hazards normally encountered in the trade and various types of infections. Major Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to: Assigns work to the unit work force daily. Prepares irregular tours and other schedules and submits them in advance to the Maintenance Supervisor for approval.
Responds to various demands in the workplace and maintains a balanced workload between the subordinate work groups.
Recommends approval of leave for unit personnel; recommends promotions, disciplinary action, and reassignments.
Assists in writing accident reports, incentive awards, suggestions and/or work simplification.
Spot checks work of all shop personnel to ensure quality, accuracy and compliance with trade codes and facility standards.
Maintains stock levels of all parts and supplies needed for operation, repair and upkeep of items assigned to the Activations and Operations Team. Works from sketches and blueprints.
Provides technical expertise in the maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance to building space (walls, ceilings, floors, windows, doors, roofs, plumbing, HVAC system).
Ensures timely performance of daily equipment checks of various pieces of building service equipment and record data; make repairs and/or adjustments, or call in a work order as instructed.
Must have ability to work from sketches and blueprints. Must have extensive knowledge of various codes, standards, and regulations that pertain to trades assigned to Activation team.
