Job Description

Summary

This job involves hands-on work maintaining parks and landscapes in Nashville, such as mowing grass, trimming plants, clearing debris, and doing minor repairs on equipment and buildings, often outdoors in all weather and sometimes on weekends or overtime.

It's a physically demanding role for someone who enjoys manual labor and working independently or in a team.

Full Job Description

This position is located in the Grounds & Landscaping Maintenance division of Parks and Recreation and performs a variety of duties in grounds maintenance and/or landscaping. This position requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequently climbing tall ladders, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, and working outside in all weather conditions.

This position may be required to work weekends and/or overtime.

Requirements

Works alone or as a member of a grounds maintenance/landscaping crew in manual labor duties and operating light to medium equipment.Performs un-skilled and semi-skilled duties necessary to assist with the construction and maintenance of all parks and public grounds.Mows, trims grass, hedges, trees, and shrubsAssists in grading and preparing all types of athletic fields &courts.Clears debris and trash from grounds and buildings as needed.

Performs minor equipment and building repairs as needed.Follows and executes direction given by supervisor/leadman.Meeting specified deadlines and completing all the assigned work given by the supervisor/leadman.Following all safety and precautionary measures while operating power tools and other equipment Qualifications Eighth Grade Education and (1) year of experience in construction, laboring, maintenance or a related field.
