Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS -05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS -04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: administrative coordination and receipt, postal mail, delivering and unloading mail items.
OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have (4) full years of education beyond high school.

Physical Requirements: The work involves considerable walking, standing and bending in searching various files. There is occasional lifting and carrying of such items as record boxes and bulky files.

Major Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to the following: Incumbent performs work as a general clerk in a Mail office in a support nature that encompasses a variety of clerical duties and responsibilities.
Perform administrative and/or clerical duties which support the daily office functions and may perform other related duties as assigned.
Pick-up, deliver, receives, opens, process reads; sort and presorts incoming mail, packages, correspondences and/or any material obtained through any mode of mailing.
Process incoming and outgoing correspondence by assigning the appropriate routing codes, as well as operate a variety of automated office equipment such a Federal Express, UPS, USPS, computers, printers, bulk mailing machines, postal meter machines, certified weighing machines and mail processing machines.
Receives and collects incoming/outgoing mail or other documents Ensures that incoming public inquiries and staff mail is properly logged, date stamped, open un-addressed mail, and sorted for proper disposition of items.
Performs clerical or support work for a variety of technical and/or program specialists in support of the programs.
Operates computer systems, and/or performs data processing support and service functions requiring knowledge of data processing sequences, procedures, user and/or programming languages, computer requirements, and/or techniques associated with the development and design of systems.
Receives phone calls for the Section and directs callers/visitors. Receives and/or gives out forms and assists visitors and/or callers with the completion of forms or documents.
Resolve simple, informal complaints of employees referring others to the supervisor.
Promote a positive image of this Medical Center with emphasis on customer service by treating patients, co-workers, and medical center personal with courtesy and respect.
Collaborate with other co-workers when needs arise. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:30 am - 3:00 pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
