Full Job Description

You will serve as a Machinist Leader in the Production Trades Division, Industrial Execution Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

  • You will serve as an Expert Machinist leading a group to ensure work assignments are completed.
  • You will pass instructions received from supervisors and provide overview of tasks to be performed to other workers.
  • You will train and mentor less skilled employees and demonstrate proper work methods and discuss viable alternatives, considerations, etc.
  • You will ensure safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
  • You will plan, operate, and troubleshoot various types of equipment utilized to manufacture and overhaul marine components from start to post-work review.
  • You will inspect completed and in process work for quality of workmanship and adherence to requirements, specifications, standards, plans and schedules.
  • You will conduct research to continually improve trade processes and keep shop personnel apprised of new technologies, procedures, best practices, and tooling improvements.
