Full Job Description

This MACHINIST position, is located in the Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD) and is part of the CA 1106 TASMG.

General Experience: Possess experience or training that has provided the candidate with a basic knowledge of machining processes; Must have the ability to use drill presses, shapers, planers and other types of associated machine tools.

MACHINIST, WG-3414-10: Must have at least 18 months of experience or training performing the full range of machining operations on most types of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various attachments; Planning and lay out work from blueprints, worksheets and other drawings that may have missing or incorrect information; Skill in applying shop mathematics in establishing needed dimensions, such as those required for chasing threads or machining angular surfaces; locating and marking surfaces and angles to be machined; Skill in programming machining operations, setting up and operating CNC machine tools; Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced shop mathematics such as geometric and trigonometric formulas to make computation for laying out work, machining pieces at unusual or compound angles, determining gear ratios pitch, angles and other similar exact or precision dimension.

THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION Indefinite appointment cannot exceed 5 years.

Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered.

The primary purpose of the MACHINIST, WG-3414-10, is to perform machining operations at the developmental level of 3414 WG-10.

The AVCRAD maintenance activities ensure aircraft of the region are ready and available to support Federal and State missions.

In addition, the AVCRAD performs National Maintenance Program (NMP) repair of rotary wing aircraft and components, limited depot airframe repair, aircraft painting, major airframe repair, depot-level component repair, and component repair and management, as directed by Army Materiel Command (AMC), and prioritized by the National Guard Bureau (NGB).

May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.
