This job involves inspecting machined parts and assemblies at a naval shipyard to ensure they meet quality standards for the Navy, including checking dimensions, materials, and fit through visual and measurement techniques.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in manufacturing or quality control who is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and familiar with technical drawings.

You will serve as a MACHINED PARTS INSPECTOR in the NON-NUCLEAR INSPECTION DIVISION; QUALITY INSURANCE OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSPECT WHILE PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING DUTIES SUCH AS: Ability to analyze and interpret blueprints and other drawings of mechanical objects sufficiently, understanding dimensions, shape, material, finish, etc., and how the various parts fit together.
Ability to use measuring devices for determining where to cut, how to fit, how to mark material, etc.
Ability to accept or reject items for conformance with requirements and to work productively in an inspection program. Knowledge of metals used in a line of work.
Examples include: familiarity with metals such as cast iron, mild steel, alloy steel, aluminum.
Ability to work independently, make decisions, plan operations, show job responsibility, and exercise initiative.
Ability to interpret and comply with inspection procedures and material and manufacturing specifications.
