This vacancy is for a GS-0346-13, Logistics Management Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, CONTINGENCY LOGISTICS BRANCH -LOG-42 in NORFOLK, Virginia.
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Analyzing deployment and logistics data to assess readiness and operational impacts.
Prepare and deliver briefings, reports and provide technical guidance to senior leaders and staff.
Proficiency in JOPES or JPES to oversee logistics planning, execution, and sustainment activities supporting joint operations. Application of joint logistics policies, procedures and doctrine.
Collaboration with Combatant Commands, Joint staff, DISA and interagency partners.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
You will serve as a Logistics Management Specialist and be responsible for managing and performing technical and analytical work as a JOPES Program Manager in order to manage Joint Force and Service Deployment and Time Phased Force and Deployment Data (TPFDD), in support of combined missions performed for Homeland Defense (HD), Defense Support to Civilian Authorities, Maritime Warning, Theater Security Cooperation and Department of Defense operations and exercises.

Typical work assignments include: Provide and coordinate ad-hoc training and assistance to personnel assigned to the command, Service Component and subordinate staffs of Joint force; responsible for deployment planning of various deliverables including IT systems, Joint and command policies, procedures, and doctrine.
Provide technical assistance on Joint Forces capabilities for all action officers on JOPES and JPES IT tools use.
Coordinate with JCS and other Combatant Command JOPES and JPES offices to work resolution of issues.
Interact with the Command Center, Future Operations Center, Future Planning Center, Joint Logistics Operation Center, Interagency Coordination Group, Deployment Distribution Operations Center, Areas, Districts and Bases for all matters relating to unit deployment planning and execution.
Serves as an authority for the policy and procedures affecting creation and cancellations of UTCs currently registered in JOPES and maintained by the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Operations with assistance from Defense Information Systems Agency.
Monitors system operations, provides guidance to users and works with systems analysts and programmers to resolve problems with Joint force deployment applications, transaction processing and hardware/software; actively manages user level access to operations and planning databases information.
