Job Description

Summary

This job involves advising on logistics and ship configuration for the U.S.

Navy's Pacific Fleet, particularly for vessels based in Japan, by developing support plans, managing maintenance projects, and ensuring ships stay ready for operations.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Assessment Branch of US NAVAL SHIP REPAIR FACILITY. ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED.

Please see Additional Information section below.*** For GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: serving as a technical adviser in all aspects of fleet logistics and configuration management including developing and executing complete Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) packages; developing, improving, and implementing logistics and configuration policy or procedures; AND developing fleet unit projects within identified requirements.

For GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: acting as an interim technical advisor in all aspects of fleet logistics and configuration management including developing and executing complete Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) packages; developing, improving, and implementing logistics and configuration policy or procedures; and developing fleet unit projects with identified requirements.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the technical advisor to all home ported FDNF ships on all aspects of logistics and configuration management and responsible for making decisions that have department or agency impact.
  • You will provide complete configuration and logistics support to Fleet units undergoing Integrated Logistics Overhauls (ILO), Phased Maintenance Review (PMR), and Continuous Integrated Logistics Support (CILS).
  • You will develop Fleet Program Support Management (FPSM) projects for Hull Mechanical and Electrical (HM and E) and Combat Systems fleet maintenance and modernization on FDNF ships and identify requirements to enhance operational readiness.
  • You will collect, analyze, review and create various data and reports for use in evaluating, documenting and reporting various ILS support.
  • You will represent the command as the technical expert in matters pertaining to configuration and logistics support at various meetings and conferences.
