Summary

This job involves overseeing all logistics for a security studies center, including planning resources, managing transportation and vehicles, and coordinating support for programs and events.

About the Position: You will serve as the Logistics Management Specialist with the George C.

Marshall Center for Security Studies (GCMC), with the responsibility to manage, plan, coordinate, direct and provide support in all aspects of GCMC operations and programs.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which includes: 1) providing logistical program oversight to determine necessary actions needed to plan, establish or develop overall operational logistics criteria and proper use of resources; 2) utilizing an automated supply system such as, but not limited to Global Support System-Army (GCSS-A) to support acquisition plans and manage logistical assets effectively; AND 3) managing logistical support structures, transportation plans, and/or emergency/contingency plans to meet strategic goals and objectives.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????12).

Major Duties:

  • You will function as the senior logistician and principal technical advisor on all logistics operational issues.
  • You will facilitate the Government Purchase Card (GPC) program developing center-wide policy and guidance on GPC use to all staff of the George C. Marshall Center (GCMC).
  • You will manage the transportation program providing logistics planning, requirements, and support and provide external logistics support to all official GCMC activities.
  • You will oversee the GCMC’s Non-Tactical Vehicle (NTV) fleet, including scheduling, maintenance, and fuel card management.
  • You will plan, organize, and coordinate all logistical activities and liaise with other headquarters, commands, and agencies to resolve logistical matters.
  • You will lead a multidisciplinary work team engaged in the planning and/or execution of logistics projects required to support the logistics program for GCMC.
  • You will plan, develop, and conduct logistics support structures, and manage transportation plans, guidance, and procedures and emergency and contingency planning in support of Center’s programming requirements.
  • You will identify resource requirements needed to develop and support specific programs and correlate sourcing those requirements with program plans to ensure mission requirements are accomplished.
