WF260039 – Local Veterans Employment Representative – Wood County
Exempt Position
Special Requirement as required by Title 38, US Code: When vacancies occur, preference in appointment shall be accorded first to qualified service connected disabled veterans; then, if no such disabled veteran is available, then to qualified eligible veterans; and if no such eligible veteran is available, then to qualified eligible persons.
At WorkForce WV, this position is in the Special Programs section and will report to the Parkersburg local office.
Consolidated Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialist (DVOP)/Local Veteran Employment Representative (LVER) staff perform both the duties of a DVOP specialist and a LVER staff.
This position promotes a more efficient administration of services to veterans with a particular emphasis on services to disabled veterans and does not hinder the provision of services to veterans and employers.
Through the DVOP responsibilities this position will provide Individualized Career Services (ICS) to eligible veterans and eligible spouses utilizing a case management approach per the Agency’s ICS policy.
Case management utilizes a variety of standard processes, techniques, and partner services with the end goal of placement in sustainable employment for the veteran job seeker.
Through the LVER duties this position will conduct outreach to employers and employer groups such as business, industry, and other community-based organizations by serving as an advocate for the hiring of veterans.
This will be executed through a variety of techniques, working hand in hand with other agency staff and partners to assist veterans in gaining employment. It is employer and employment focused.
Please note, this is an Exempt position and is not covered under the merit system administered by the West Virginia Division of Personnel.
