Domicile will be determined based on the hired candidate’s location at one of our IowaWorks location in Burlington or Davenport, IA.

What You’ll Do
Lead outreach initiatives with employers to educate them on best practices and develop new pathways for the recruitment and hiring of Veterans, including collaboration with federal contractors, employer groups, and partner organizations.
Core Responsibilities
- Advocate and promote the hiring of veterans with business, industry, chamber of commerce, media and other community-based organizations by participating in appropriate outreach activities:
- Outreach to employers
- Coordinating and attending job fairs
- Host opportunities for employers to meet qualified veterans
- Promote job development activities with employers.
- Coordinate with unions, apprenticeship programs and businesses or business organizations to promote and secure employment and training programs for veterans.
- Inform Federal contractors of the process to recruit qualified veterans.
- Assist in the assessment and development of new training initiatives in the Local Workforce Development Area (LWDA).
- Contact employers (in-person and virtually) to gain knowledge of job processes, conditions of employment, and general occupational and industrial information.
- Identify job openings and provide information on business services offered through the Workforce Centers.
- Give presentations before audiences of business or community leaders concerning services available through the Workforce Center and veteran programs.
- Promote credentialing, licensing, job driven training and apprenticeship opportunities for veterans.
- Promote IWD as a 3rd party administrator of the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge program.
- Support Iowa employers in gaining approval as a DoW SkillBridge Industry Partner.
- Guide businesses through the application and training plan process while addressing program-related questions.
- Opportunities to present to business or community leaders on the SkillBridge program and the benefits it can provide as a workforce pipeline.
In this role you will become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the hiring and retention of:
- Veterans, Transitioning Service Members, Guardsmen/Reservists and their families
- Provide training and technical assistance to employers that wish to become "Veteran-Ready"
- Promote best practices to businesses including but not limited to becoming a designated Home Base Iowa Business (HBI), the HIRE Vets Medallion Program, and Veteran Resource Groups
- Advocate for "job-ready" Veterans that have been referred by career planners within the Office of Veteran Workforce Services
- Educate and train One-Stop staff and stakeholders regarding veteran issues and concerns. Coordinate and participate with other business outreach efforts
- Integrate and collaborate with the One-Stop's Business Service Team(s) to advocate for hiring veterans

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Hybrid telework and alternate work schedule opportunities after 6-months of employment has been completed.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, graphic design, communications, human resources, business, or economics and two years of full-time work experience in marketing, journalism, public relations, graphic design, communications, human resources, business, or economics.
- A total of six years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where 30 semester hours of accredited college or university course work in marketing, journalism, public relations, graphic design, communications, human resources, business, or economics equals one year of full-time experience.
