The Department of Agriculture is seeking motivated candidates for Livestock Worker positions at Meadows Racetrack.

In this role, you will assist veterinarians with handling horses and recording sample data, playing an essential part in maintaining the integrity of racing operations.

Livestock Workers help ensure that the rules, regulations, and policies of the Pennsylvania State Horse Racing Commission are upheld, making this a meaningful opportunity for anyone passionate about animal care and the racing industry.

Requirements

The Livestock Worker 1 is responsible for monitoring assigned horses, collecting urine samples, and packaging those samples in accordance with established procedures while completing all required records and documentation. This position also assists veterinarians and supports additional farm or racetrack activities as needed, ensuring smooth operations and proper care of the animals.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Part-time employment
• Typical work schedule is 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday - Friday.
• Work schedule is vendor controlled and may change as determined by the racing schedule.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Experience in general farm work; and such training as may have been gained through completion of the eighth school grade; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Post Employment Requirement:

• This position will require possession of a Commission Employee License once hired.

Preferred Qualification (not required):

• Experience working with and around horses.

Additional Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
