This position not only involves supervising lifeguards, but also engaging in public safety initiatives, maintaining order within the facility, and performing essential maintenance, custodial, and clerical tasks as needed. Requirements

As a Lifeguard Supervisor, your responsibilities will involve patrolling designated areas to observe and monitor visitor activity at Ryerson Station State Park Pool Complex.

You must remain alert and vigilant at all times, continuously scanning the swimming area to prevent or respond to any accidents or emergencies.

The ability to recognize when swimmers are in distress or need assistance is crucial, as you must take immediate action to initiate proper lifesaving methods and techniques.

In addition, you will be expected to utilize first aid, artificial respiration, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for visitors of all ages.

Inspection of buoys, ropes, first aid equipment and supplies, and other safety equipment will be another essential function in order to ensure all items are in proper operating condition.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits.

The season runs from approximately May 2026 until September 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay.

The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately in May 2027.

  • Work hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • Scheduled days will vary not to exceed 37.5 hours per week.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • Two seasons of experience as a Lifeguard (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


    Special Requirements:

    • All employees must obtain a valid Lifeguard Certification or Lifeguard Management Certification issued by the American Red Cross, YMCA, United States Lifesaving Association, or other authority recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health within 14 days of employment.
    • All employees must obtain valid certifications in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR within 14 days of employment.

    • You must pass a background investigation.
    • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
      • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
    • In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal and Federal Criminal History Checks around the time of hire and thereafter every 5 years.
