This seasonal job involves leading a team of lifeguards at Presque Isle State Park on Lake Erie, where you'll supervise patrols, train staff, and perform lifeguarding tasks like rescues and first aid to keep beach visitors safe.
You'll also inspect equipment, enforce rules, and handle reports on water conditions.
It's ideal for someone with prior lifeguard experience who enjoys outdoor work, team leadership, and a commitment to public safety in a busy summer setting.
In this position, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delegating tasks to team members, as well as preparing and signing off on their performance evaluations.
You will assess the training requirements of your subordinates and facilitate opportunities for their further education and skill development.
Additionally, you will demonstrate appropriate techniques and methods while holding meetings to communicate any updates regarding rules, regulations, policies, and standards that affect your team.
Your role will also involve supervising and actively participating in the rescue of swimmers in distress, administering first aid or CPR to injured visitors, and enforcing the rules and regulations set forth by the State Parks.
You will conduct inspections of swimming areas and safety equipment to ensure they meet safety standards for public use, operate boats or other vehicles during patrols and rescues, and monitor activities at swimming locations to maintain order and reduce the risk of accidents or drowning.
Remaining vigilant at your assigned post is crucial, as you will need to continuously scan the swimming area to prevent incidents and be ready to respond to emergencies.
Furthermore, you will ensure adherence to the Bureau of State Parks' swimming regulations by following established guidelines, inspecting safety equipment such as buoys and first aid supplies, and preparing detailed reports on swimming conditions, activities, and incidents.
You will also lead training sessions for lifeguards to review lifesaving techniques and water safety practices, ensuring they maintain their required certifications in swimming, first aid, and CPR.
