This job is for a Lieutenant at a medium to maximum security prison in South Carolina, where you'll lead a team of security officers, manage inmate safety and control, and ensure the facility runs smoothly and securely.
It's a hands-on role involving daily inspections, handling disputes, and maintaining high standards for cleanliness and safety.

Under general supervision, plans, coordinates and directs the actions of the security staff and oversees security, custody and control of inmates in a medium/maximum security facility.Assumes primary responsibility for security of all buildings and public property.Makes routine checks of the unit(s) to ensure subordinate staff are performing their duties properly and safely, and that cleanliness and OSHA standards are maintained.Assists with all inmate counts for accuracy.Investigates complaints and violations; arbitrates disputes among inmate population and correctional staff.Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire.Questions regarding the application process, this job posting or any other postings with the SCDC should be directed to:Recruiting and Employment Services(803) 896-1649Employment@doc.sc.gov Requirements State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:A high school diploma and relevant experience.
A bachelor's degree in a related field may be substitute for the required experience.SCDC Minimum Requirements:A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
