Summary
This job is for a lieutenant overseeing daily operations in a medium-security prison, including managing inmate counts, releases, sanitation, and staffing in the administration area.
It involves supervising staff, handling key and armory control, and coordinating transfers and bed assignments.

Full Job Description
Serves as operations lieutenant in a medium security facility.
Supervises and verifies the accuracy of scheduled formal counts.
Responsible for verifying all scheduled inmate releases and updating records as necessary.
Responsible for sanitation and inmate staffing of the administration area.
Overseas operations, key control, armory, administrative dorm sergeant and institutional transfers and bed assignments.
Other duties and projects assigned.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
- A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).
- Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
