Full Job Description
- Provides basic and intermediate nursing care-including vital signs, oxygen saturation checks, peak flow readings, ROM exercises, and observes patients for physical or mental health symptoms, reporting findings to the RN or Physician.
- Administers and documents prescribed medications, delivers medications to inmate units, and reports any symptoms, adverse reactions, or suspected drug interactions to the RN or Physician.
- Assists in emergent medical situations, including codes, trauma, and mass casualty incidents, following scope of practice, SOPS, and direction from medical providers or RNs.
- Performs medical records functions such as filing, chart maintenance, purging, scheduling inmate appointments, and completing required documentation accurately and confidentially.
- Provides health services orientation to inmates, offers instructions related to healthcare needs and community resources during discharge planning, and coordinates dietary requirements when appropriate.
- Assists in orienting new personnel and clinic healthcare workers, supervises CNAs and medical records staff, coordinates assignments and collaborates with nursing leadership on intake planning and workflow.
- Maintains required annual in-service education and certifications, including mandatory training and CPR and perform duties in accordance with SOPS, post orders and applicable nursing practice standards

Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:Successful completion of a registered nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from a registered nursing education program per Section 40-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Must have an active nursing license in the state of South Carolina or qualifying compact state. Must have Basic Life Support Certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
