Must be at least 18 years old AND have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school. (Valid documentation will be required upon hire.) 2.
One year of customer service experience; library experience preferred. 3. Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to include weekends, holidays, and evenings. 4.
Must be able to perform prolonged standing, walking, reaching, pushing loaded book truck, and frequent light to moderate lifting up to 40 lbs. independently. 5.
Good organizational skills, knowledge and experience in clerical and administrative procedures. 6. Knowledge in Microsoft Office. 7.
Demonstrated excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with customers. Please include MONTH/YEAR and HOURS per week for all previous work experience listed on the resume.
If there is no indication of time in position, we will credit the minimum. Major Duties:
Incumbent assists in a variety of technical and clerical tasks to support library work such as processing library materials, registering new patrons, and explaining library policies.
Provides limited reference and reader's advisory by using basic reference resources and online databases.
Assists patrons with the online catalog and database, Microsoft Office applications, and internet navigation. Shelves returned and new materials.
Conducts shelf-reading and rearranges materials as needed to maintain optimal space utilization. Responsible for opening and closing routines of the facility.
Plans and conducts engaging programs for all age groups. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.
Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards.
Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage to library materials. May train and provide technical guidance to other library employees.
Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
