Summary

This job involves running the day-to-day operations of a music library at a university, including managing staff, helping patrons find music resources, handling book checkouts, and organizing the collection.

Advertised Job Summary

Oversees access services for the Music Library, including staffing the Music Services Desk, training and supervision of student assistants, front-line music reference, music library outreach activities, circulation of music materials, reserves, and stacks management. Utilizes multiple computer applications toward increased productivity in a rapidly changing environment. Enjoys a high level of independence and receives minimal supervision by the Head Librarian to ensure compliance with Music Library policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in music, or music background. Demonstrated knowledge of
basic library practices and procedures, including Alma. Ability to work both
independently and collaboratively.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Requires excellent interpersonal skills to manage a dynamic student workforce and interact with a wide variety of patrons in the academic environment. Requires familiarity with music LC classification, and music reference sources. Knowledge of Alma, and Microsoft suite software applications. SLED background check is required
