Applications accepted from: ALL PERSONS INTERESTEDHouston Public Library is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, innovative and collaborative collection development librarian to provide leadership and vision for acquisitions and processing within the Library Materials Services unit for a large urban public library system consisting of 42 locations and serving a diverse set of communities and populations.
Must be able to think “outside-of-the-box” and embrace change and technology in developing and executing a collection development plan and strategy for a progressive library system for the 21st century.
Able to pay attention to details while having a system-wide view. Must be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as Office 365.
Essential job duties and responsibilities include:
Experience managing a research center and strong supervisory skills.Project management experience especially in the areas of digitization, conservation, or grant-funded projects.Working experience in an archives, special collection, museum, or research center.Familiarity with local history collections, particularly Houston and Texas.Experience in records or documents management; creating policies and procedures; or strategic planning or succession planning.Strong problem solving and organization skills.Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with others.Effective written and oral communication skills.Academy of Certified Archivists (ACA) Certification or Records Management Certification.**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.** Additional Information SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED No.
