Full Job Description

The South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented legal intern to support the Office of General Counsel. This internship provides a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in administrative law and the criminal justice system while working closely with experienced staff attorneys and the office's program coordinator.

The legal intern will assist with various legal and administrative functions, including:

  • Notifying parties in connection with contested case hearings
  • Drafting and preparing legal documents for submission to:
    • The Law Enforcement Training Council
    • The Administrative Law Court
    • The South Carolina Court of Appeals
  • Conducting legal research and assisting attorneys with analysis of legal issues
  • Supporting the development of legal updates for law enforcement personnel
  • Analyzing potential regulatory and policy changes
  • Drafting factual sections for hearing officer findings and recommendations
