This summer internship in the State of South Carolina's Department of Transportation Legal Services involves supporting lawyers with tasks like handling damage claims, researching legal topics, updating databases and manuals, and providing basic office help such as answering phones.
It's ideal for students currently enrolled in a paralegal or law program who want hands-on experience in government legal work.
The role pays between $17 and $23 per hour and focuses on building practical skills in a supportive team environment.
Assists with the administration of damage claims.Assists in updating case management system and legal opinion archival database on ProjectWise or other software.Researches and prepares legal memorandum as assigned by the attorneys.Assists attorneys in updating associate counsel workbook and contract administration manual.Updating substantive law outline regarding drainage, condemnation, inverse condemnation, discretionary immunity, etc.Answers phones and provides administrative assistance as necessary.Pay Rate is between $17.00 - $23.00/per hour depending on qualifications.
Requirements A high school diploma; or an approved acceptable equivalence.Must be enrolled in a two-year paralegal associate program or an ABA accredited law program.
